Drought Tolerant Sustainable Landscaping & Irrigation
Our drought tolerant sustainable landscaping and irrigation practices combine environmental responsibility with aesthetic beauty.
We create water-efficient landscapes that thrive in Southern California's climate while reducing resource consumption.

Tips For Sustainable Practices

-
Update your watering system — have it professionally evaluated for maximum efficiency. Weather-based "Smart Controllers" are an excellent choice to ensure that you are using water wisely.
-
Retrofit your irrigation system to a drip line or low-flow rotating spray heads. When professionally installed, these are extremely efficient and will deliver water much more precisely.
-
Remove all or part of your water-thirsty lawn and consider replacing it with drought-tolerant ground cover, or creating a natural meadow using evergreen ornamental grasses, native iris & other wildflowers. Decomposed granite and gravel make excellent pathways and further reduce water consumption.
-
Use permeable hardscape surfaces wherever possible, allowing rainwater and irrigation runoff to seep back into the water table.
-
Make use of bio swales and dry creek beds for rainwater capture. We can integrate them into your garden in a beautiful and meaningful way. This is also a good solution for areas that do not drain well. It gives the water a place under the surface to sit while it percolates back into the water table.
-
Use plants from the 5 Mediterranean areas of the world. Your garden doesn’t have to look like the desert to be low water use! We have developed a lovely selection of low-water-use plants that are colorful, produce flowers, and are evergreen.
-
Use Succulents — extremely low maintenance with very low water needs.
-
Keep your plants well mulched with 2–4" of organic matter.
-
Devote a portion of your yard to fruit and nut trees, vegetable production, and/or herbs. You will delight at the ease with which you can supply your family with healthy, fresh foods.
